THE CORE PRAYERS
THE MORNING PRAYER
Having arisen from sleep, we fall down before You, O Blessed One, and sing to You, O Mighty One, the angelic hymn: Holy! Holy! Holy! are You, O God; through the Theotokos, have mercy on us; and through Your saints, have mercy on us. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
O Lord, Who has risen me from my bed and slumber, enlighten my mind and heart, and open my lips that I may praise You, O Most Holy and Sovereign Trinity: Holy! Holy! Holy! are You, O God; through the Theotokos, have mercy on us; and through Your saints, have mercy on us. Now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
THE NOONDAY PRAYER
Having arrived at the noonday hour, we praise You for Your great and holy mercy. May Your hands of mercy continue to guide me, and all the Communion of Saints, into life eternal. Glory be to You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Now and ever unto ages of ages. Amen.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. [For the Kingdom and the power and the glory are yours forever.] Amen.
THE NICAEAN CREED
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, begotten of the Father, the only-Begotten; that is, of the essence of the Father, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; by Whom all things were made both in heaven and on earth; Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down and was incarnate and was made man; He suffered, and the third day He rose again, ascended into heaven; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
And in the Holy Ghost.
But those who say: 'There was a time when He was not;' and 'He was not before He was made;' and 'He was made out of nothing,' or 'He is of another substance' or 'essence,' or 'The Son of God is created,' or 'changeable,' or 'alterable'—they are condemned by the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Amen.
THE NEWARK CREED
We believe in one God—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—Who is made manifest in three Persons. We believe God in His majesty made all things visible and invisible, known and unknown.
We believe God, in His majesty, was incarnate in flesh in the Person of Jesus the Christ, Who was begotten of the Father but not made. We believe He is God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God. We believe His divinity and humanity are united in a compound nature, the two being united without separation, without mixture, without confusion and without alteration. We believe He, Jesus, was born of the Virgin Mary, the Theotokos and Christotokos; and we believe He suffered, was crucified, buried in the Sepulcher, and on the third day rose again in His Godhood as God become man. We believe He ascended into the Third Heaven, and is once more at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, in unity with the Holy Spirit. We believe He, being God, shall soon come to judge the quick and the dead from the Fall to this very day, and the times ahead.
We believe God, in His majesty, has established One, Holy, Orthodox, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. We believe in baptism by water for the remission of sin, and we believe in baptism by the Holy Spirit for the fulfillment of Christian living. We believe and await the resurrection of the dead, and the life of that which is to come. Amen.
